MICE CONNECT RETREAT

Oman

The MICE world of 2027 is looking for something classic congresses can no longer give: real encounters, changes of place, and formats that keep working long after the last session. This retreat answers that with a route — five days that travel from the fluid, open coast of Muscat up to the grounded, terraced heights of Jabal Akhdar, and back.

The next era of corporate events won’t be won by hierarchy or spectacle alone. It will be built on the interplay of complementary leadership energies — often coded as masculine and feminine, though every leader carries both. The directive and the relational. Structure and adaptation. Vision and grounding. Our route makes that polarity physical: we begin where everything is open and in motion, and we finish where everything is rooted and high — then return to the coast to put it to work.

Redefining Leadership, Redesigning Events

Thursday, 2nd December – Sea, Souq & First Light

Landing on the coast, easing gently into the rhythm of the Gulf.

5:45-6:00 am – Arrivals at Muscat International Airport Meet & greet, private transfers, early check-in. A morning at leisure to rest and recover after the night flight – a city landmark or a bay resort.

1:00 pm – Lunch at Bait Al Luban & Mutrah Souq Lunch at Bait Al Luban (“House of Frankincense”), a traditional Omani restaurant right on the Corniche facing the harbour and its wooden dhows – then straight into the labyrinth of Mutrah Souq for frankincense, silver, spices and the local market at its liveliest. Space to explore and haggle.

4:30 pm – Coast Route by Dhow A traditional dhow along the cliffs and hidden coves of the coast (Bandar Khayran / Muscat Bay) — swim stop, then a sundowner on deck.

6:00 pm – Welcome Dinner & Workshop I: The Polarity of Leadership A frankincense welcome, then an open opening circle – no stage. We set intentions and name the coast-and-summit polarity that carries the week.

Friday, 3rd December – Into the Interior

Off the coast and inland — market day in the old capital, then up the mountain.

7:30 am – Depart Muscat · Birkat Al Mouz Drive inland to a palm oasis fed by an ancient falaj water channel, with the ruins of an old mud-brick village against the mountains.

9:30 am – Nizwa Friday Market The historic interior capital on its busiest morning — the traditional livestock market in full swing, a genuine, unpolished local experience found only on Fridays.

11:00 am – Nizwa Fort & Souq The great round tower of the 17th-century fort, then the souq for silver khanjars, dates, frankincense and Omani halwa.

1:00 pm – Workshop II: Reading the Room A working lunch in a heritage courtyard: tradition and innovation, listening and directing, and what Oman’s balance teaches about co-creating experiences.

3:30 pm – Ascent to Jabal Akhdar Transfer to 4x4s for the climb to the “Green Mountain” at ~2,000 m. Check in to the cliff-edge mountain resort (kept open, see below).

5:30 pm – Sunset at Diana’s Point The canyon glows gold at dusk from one of Oman’s most dramatic viewpoints. Layers advised — mountain evenings are cold in December.

8:00 pm – Dinner at Altitude · Overnight Jabal Akhdar Fireside dining on the plateau under a sky full of stars.

Saturday, 4th December – The Green Mountain & the Wadi

High terraces, an abandoned village in the valley, and the day’s big ideas.

9:00 am – Workshop III: Leading from the Summit The height session: translating the coast-and-summit polarity into concrete event formats worth taking to corporate clients.

11:00 am – Rose Terraces & Sayq Plateau Villages Walk the stepped terraces where Jabal Akhdar’s damask roses grow, past old villages clinging to the slope and their falaj channels.

1:00 pm – Wadi Bani Habib Descend into the wadi to a hauntingly beautiful abandoned stone village among walnut and pomegranate trees — a picnic on the valley floor.

4:00 pm – Reflect & Relax Open afternoon — spa, the resort’s cliff-edge infinity pool, or an optional via ferrata along the canyon wall.

7:30 pm – Closing Dinner Under the Stars · Overnight Jabal Akhdar The signature evening of the retreat — a long table on the mountain, and the week’s ideas shared aloud.

Sunday, 5th December – Descent & the Coast

Down from the mountain and back to the sea, with a wadi on the way.

9:30 am – Descend the Mountain · Optional Wadi Stop Wind back down toward the coast, with the option to pause at a valley wadi for a last walk or swim in the pools.

2:00 pm – Return to Muscat · Coast at Leisure Check back in on the coast or Muscat Bay. Afternoon free – beach, spa, or the hotel’s own pace after the mountain days.

8:00 pm – Farewell Dinner by the Water · Overnight Muscat Back where the journey began – a relaxed last evening on the coast.

Monday, 6th December – Take-aways & Home

A calm final morning, then the flight west.

8:00 am – Optional: Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque For early risers – a quiet visit to modern Oman’s masterpiece of craftsmanship (open mornings, modest dress required).

10:00 am – Closing Circle: Take-aways A final gathering over brunch: the learnings, the formats, and how each planner will carry them into their own corporate programmes.
